PHOENIX — Sen. John McCain has won the endorsement of the Arizona Fraternal
Order of Police in his 2010 re-election bid.
The organization says the unanimous vote came at Saturday's statewide meeting
held in Phoenix.
"Senator John McCain is a leader of integrity, character and courage whose
record of supporting Arizona's law enforcement community is unmatched," Arizona
Fraternal Order of Police President Bryan Soller said in a press release. "Like
our members, Sen. McCain sees issues from the perspective of someone who has
been on the front lines. He is the leader we need to keep our nation and
communities safe."
The group says it represents more than 6,500 member officers.
McCain is seeking his fifth term in the U.S. Senate. He is running against
former U.S. Rep. and radio talk show host J.D. Hayworth in the Republican Senate
primary.
"Arizona's law enforcement officers have committed their lives to a cause
greater than their own self-interest, and I am deeply honored by their support,"
Sen. John McCain said in a press release. "I have always been committed to
ensuring our law enforcement professionals, who sacrifice so much for so many,
have the resources and support to complete their vital mission of protecting and
serving our communities. I look forward to our continued work together to keep
Arizona safe and secure." |
